the view from kuwa'hi
The Cherokee called this place Kuwa’hi, the place of mulberries. It was said to be home to the chief of all bears, the White Bear. And from its peak you could see the lake of Ataga’hi, whose waters could cure the wounded. Knowing this adds to the atmosphere when you visit.
At the summit is a plaque that includes the following quote spoken by the Great Spirit:
“if they love me, if they love all their brothers and sisters, and if they love the animals of the earth, when they grow old and sick, they can come to a magic lake and be made well again”
